We regularly receive this question from Charleston computer repair clients.  Allot are surprised that they should NOT use Windex or half-half solutions of Amonia/Water.  Best cleaner is nothing or very minute amount of distilled or plain old tap water:

1. Turn your PC off; don’t touch the screen with your bare hands/fingers; oils/grease can stain the screen.

2. Use a soft dry cotton cloth; in a circular motion gently wipe away fingerprints and smudges. If this doesn’t help, slightly dampen the cloth with water and try again. Never spray liquid directly on the screen.

3.  Special cleaning cloths are available.  Be careful to select a clean cloth free from any particles or dirt that may damage the screen. Don’t use paper towels, ammonia, or strong cleaners on the screen under any circumstances and try to clean your monitor at least once a month.
