Close to 2000 infected items we’re found on a PC owned by a local Charleston doctor who’s staff had this PC very recently serviced by a well known IT computer company that’s been in business for decades.  We suggested they immediately ask for their money back.

Use care when deciding who does your service.  Consider Angie’s List, Google Reviews, BBB.  Ask friends/relatives on FaceBook.  Ask companies YOU trust and do business with who they use for their computer help, whether they like them and whether they would refer them or not?

Just because a company advertises they have X years of experience doesn’t mean you’re getting an experienced tech.  Qualify in advance with the person with whom you talk to over the phone that you insist you get someone that has at least a five (5) or more years paid professional computer repair experience and/or has at least a Comptia A+ certification and if they’re working on your computer network, at least a Comptia Network+ certification.

When a technician arrives, before letting him/her through the door qualify how long they’ve been doing paid professional computer repairs?  If the tech answers anything less than five years and/or they insist their Microsoft Certified Desktop Specialist or Microsoft Certified Professional certification qualifies them to repair your equipment, inform them you know these certifications only require one to pass a single test or two tests; don’t let them through your door.
