I was helping a College of Charleston student downtown about two weeks ago with a computer repair.  Her laptop died and we we’re trying to relocate her documents off her failing hard-drive but kept running into disk copy issues; her drive was in rough shape.

To resolve this issue, I used Teracopy.

Teracopy is a free compact program that copies or moves files at a considerably faster pace than Windows.  Teracopy is good for bulk file copy or file moves; it’s unique allowing one to pause copying and in the case of copy error, it will retry several times and worst case, will skip the problem file but unlike other copy programs will not terminate the entire transfer.  This programs speed, error detection and retry and continue functionality saves time and money.

Teracopy shows you the failed file transfers and lets you fix the problem and recopy only the problem files.  Teracopy is supported on Windows7 64-bit operating systems.  Details:  http://www.codesector.com/teracopy.php
